A pedestrian was fatally struck by multiple vehicles on Monday in a hit-and-run collision on the northbound Hutchinson River Parkway, just before East Tremont Avenue, according to the NYPD. The incident occurred at approximately 8:12 p.m. within the 45th Precinct.

Police responded to a 911 call and found an unidentified male pedestrian lying on the roadway, suffering from severe head and body trauma. Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived at the scene and pronounced the man dead on arrival.

An initial investigation by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the roadway from east to west when he was first hit by a dark-colored SUV traveling northbound. The SUV did not remain at the scene and continued heading north.

Shortly after the first collision, the pedestrian was struck by three additional vehicles: a 2019 white Hyundai sedan driven by a 21-year-old male, a 2010 blue Honda sedan driven by a 66-year-old female, and a 2019 blue Jeep SUV driven by a 63-year-old male. All three drivers remained on the scene and were not injured.

As of now, no arrests have been made. The investigation into the hit-and-run is ongoing, led by the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad. Authorities are seeking any information on the dark SUV involved in the initial collision.
