NYPD Detective Injured During Traffic Stop

A NYPD detective is recovering from an accidental self-inflicted injury caused during a traffic stop.

According to a NYPD spokesman, a detective conducting a car stop at the intersection of Westchester Avenue and Simpson Street on Friday, July 7 at around 3:30 p.m. accidentally discharged his weapon striking himself in the leg.

The car’s occupants Elizabeth Rios, 20, of 1113 South Townsend Street, and Luis Morales, 32, of 1074 Clinton Avenue, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.

The detective is recovering from his injury.
