A Bronx man has been sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the brutal murder of his girlfriend, whom he fatally stabbed in their shared apartment and then left her body to rot, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Tuesday.
Luis Severino, 54, of University Avenue, was convicted by a jury on Aug. 9, 2024, and sentenced by Bronx Supreme Court Justice Audrey Stone. According to prosecutors, Severino killed his girlfriend, Cindi Olivo, 32, by stabbing her in the neck sometime between June 13 and July 12, 2019. He then fled the scene, leaving her body in their apartment for weeks until neighbors reported a foul odor to authorities on July 12, 2019.
First responders discovered Olivo’s body upon arriving.
“The defendant showed no remorse for his actions,” said Clark. “He will now spend many years in prison for this horrific crime.”
Severino was arrested on Oct. 15, 2019, after a months-long investigation.
