Halloween Parade rescheduled for Nov. 2nd

A fun-filled day for children and residents of the Bronx will continue despite the rain cancellation of the Throggs Neck Halloween Parade.

The 25th annual Throggs Neck Halloween Parade, scheduled to be held on Saturday, October 25, was again subjected to inclement weather, as it has for the last few years.

Assemblyman Michael Benedetto, who organizes the event, will be moving the celebration indoors to the Villa Barone Manor, located at 737 Throgs Neck Expressway, on Sunday, November 2, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and all are welcomed to attend.

Benedetto, along with the assistance of Congressman Jeff Crowley, Senator Jeff Klein, and Councilman James Vacca, hope to have this celebration provide as much excitement for the children as the parade would have.

“Due to the inclement weather of Saturday we are forced to bring the party indoors, but we hope it will go as well as the last two years,” said Ben Randazzo, chief of staff to Assemblyman Michael Benedetto.  “We are looking forward to another successful Halloween event.”

This year’s Ragg-A-Muffin Party will continue with all the exciting and engaging activities of past years, such as face painters, jugglers, spin art, tattoos, demonstrations, and the indoor costume parade, where kids have an opportunity to show off their fun and creative costumes, plus refreshments.

Other activities include the Bear Bus, where kids can purchase and build their own stuffed animal, carnival rides, and two carnival booths featuring two games each and an assortment of prizes for the winners. Many of the prizes are courtesy of the local merchants, such as Patricia’s, Metro Optics, Tosca’s, Paddy Doherty’s, and several others.

“We have had a good response the last two years it was inside,” said Randazzo. “We can’t have the kids marching in the street past all the businesses and we regret that because it would draw more children, but we still continue the parade inside and last year we had close to one thousand people attend.”
