Gunmen Injure 2 Women In Soundview

Police are searching for the gunmen responsible for injuring two women last week in Soundview. According to a NYPD spokesman, two 31-year-old women were standing near 1550 E. 173rd Street on Friday, August 4 at 11:10 p.m. when two strangers approached and fired several rounds at them. One woman was struck in the leg and was rushed to Jacobi Medical Center. The other victim was shot in her back and left arm and ran into the nearby Yalla Deli and Grocery to seek shelter and help. She was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital. Both women are listed in stable condition. At 11:20 p.m. that same evening, a woman and her 3-year-old son on nearby East 174th Street and Vyse Avenue overheard the previous incident’s gunfire. The mother and her son attempted to flee the area, but were struck by a car. Both were taken to Jacobi Medical Center in stable condition. Police confirmed the second incident was separate from the shooting. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
