The Bronx-based Essen Health Care held a free breast cancer screening event from Tuesday, Oct. 22, through Thursday, Oct. 24, at its location at 899 Elton Ave.


In addition to being able to sign up for free cancer screenings, attendees also received free giveaways, including pantry goods, an Essen Health Care bag with a t-shirt, access to healthcare items and more.


The event featured a live DJ, as well as the Essen Health Care Van, which was full of items meant to be distributed to residents in need.

Photo by Jewel WebberThis event was organized and held in partnership with the Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, Best Hospitals and NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers, which is a group of 72 cancer research institutions across the United States that are supported by the National Cancer Institute.


Essen Medical Health Home Outreach Supervisor Jason Alvarado discussed the programs offered by the medical system, as well as the resources offered throughout this breast cancer screening event.
