The new borough president has finalized his appointments to community board around the Bronx. In Community Board 10, one of the appointments was a big surprise – it was his opponent in the recent borough president’s race.

Anthony Ribustello, an actor and community activist, ran for borough president in the April special election to replace former Borough President Adolfo Carrion Jr., who left office after he was picked by President Barak Obama to be the first-ever White House Director of Urban Affairs.

On Monday, June 15 Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. announced that he has appointed Ribustello to CB 10, which serves the Throggs Neck, Pelham Bay, Westchester Square, Zerega, City Island, and Co-op City.

“’One Bronx’ means that we cannot allow political differences to interfere in our work to make the Bronx a better place,” Diaz Jr. said, re-iterating his campaign promise. “Though Anthony and I may disagree on issues, he is a good man who cares deeply about the well-being of his neighborhood, and will be a strong voice for local concerns in his new position.”

Ribustello is a Country Club resident and his career as an actor has seen him in roles on the television hit The Sopranos, as well as in feature films. Community board members are appointed with input from both the borough president and the city council delegation from the board.

“I look forward to serving on Community Board 10, working hand in hand with Borough President Diaz and City Councilman Jimmy Vacca to strengthen not only our community but the entire Bronx,” he said.

Also appointed to Community Board 10 was Scott Bernard, a board member of the Waterbury LaSalle Civic and Community Association.
