New York City Council Member Kevin C. Riley held a special Thanksgiving food distribution on Friday, Nov. 21, at his district office, located at 940 E. Gun Hill Rd. in the Bronx.

Known as the “Uptown Thanksgiving Distribution,” this event featured a variety of food, including turkey, goat meat, oxtail, canned goods, rice and more.

Business owners on the block also assisted in this event, helping in the distribution of the goods.

Riley addressed the attendees during the event, discussing the importance of spreading love and joy by assisting community members in need.

While Thanksgiving is most associated with turkey, Riley said he wanted to provide additional meat options like goat meat and oxtail because the district has a large Caribbean population, who may have a stronger preference for these alternatives.
