Bronx Brewery Backyard welcomes Bronxite rhymes and poems (RAP) artists to its open mic showcase. Share your lyrical knack with an original RAP piece or listen to seasoned artists while connecting with New York’s dynamic RAP community. This Friday’s 21-and-over event will also feature a day party with a live band, DJ and flash tattoo booth.

Bronx Brewery Beer and Build Night

Media and gaming entertainment company Project NuType hosts this Saturday’s Beer and Build for Bronxites. Meant for model kit hobbyists, kit collectors or model kit building newcomers, the event invites Bronxites to build kits and drink hops. The event will also feature a plastic model showcase with kits crafted by experienced builders.

Caribbean Social Club’s Screening of “Los Sures” and “Toñita’s”

The Bronx Documentary Center, in collaboration with UnionDocs, will host a special screening of documentaries “Los Sures” and “Toñita’s.” Chile-born, Puerto Rico-raised director Diego Echeverria’s film “Los Sures” is a raw and tender portrait of the challenges – drugs, gang violence, racial tension, inadequate resources – faced by New York’s Southside community in the late ’70s. The UnionDocs-produced “Toñita’s” depicts the vivid life of the eponymous Puerto Rican social club in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

Bachata Party at Rosa’s at Park

Whether you’re bachata adept or an amateur, join NYC bachata enthusiasts Angely Francisco and Beverly Lopez for ¡Dame Tu Pasito! Bachata Party. DJ Chris Amargue Corso will be playing bachata beats for the night, with some merengue, salsa and dembow tracks. Bring your sentimiento and joy to this celebration of Dominican culture.
For bachata beginners, Francisco and Lopez will be hosting a mini bachata workshop from 5 to 5:45 p.m.
