With local elections quickly approaching, the Spencer Estates and Country Club is hosting a “Candidates Night” on Tuesday, Oct. 15.

The event, which will begin at 7:30 p.m., will take place at Living Manna Church, located at 1550 Research Ave., and promises to give voters a chance to hear directly from candidates representing key districts in the Bronx.

This year’s forum features candidates from the 82nd Assembly District, 34th Senate District, and Congressional District 14. Incumbent Michael Benedetto will go head-to-head with challenger Juan De Lacruz for the 82nd Assembly District, while current state Sen. Nathalia Fernandez will debate her opponent, Edwinna Herrera, for the 34th Senate District. For the Congressional District 14 race, voters will have the opportunity to hear from Tina Forte, a candidate vying for the seat.

The event aims to remind Bronx residents of the critical importance of local elections, which often have a more direct impact on day-to-day life than national races. Organizers emphasize that while major political battles dominate the headlines, these local elections influence residents’ quality of life immeasurably.
