A Bronxite who stabbed a man in the head with a screwdriver on board a bus Monday afternoon remains at large, police reported.
Police said the attack occurred at about 2 p.m. on April 8, while most Bronxites had their eyes on the sky for the solar eclipse, aboard a Bx22 bus traveling along East Fordham Road approaching Marion Avenue in Fordham Heights.
According to police sources, the victim, a 60-year-old man, began playfully drumming his fingers on his lap, which prompted the suspect, a younger man, to become agitated. The perpetrator then confronted the commuter and an argument ensued.
Seconds later, law enforcement sources noted, the suspect produced a screwdriver and stabbed the 60-year-old in the head. The assailant then departed the bus at Marion Avenue.
Officers from the 52nd Precinct responded to the incident. EMS rushed the wounded passenger to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The perpetrator remains at large as of Tuesday morning, police reported.
