Bronx locals take ‘ice bucket challenge’

These local leaders got “iced” — for a good cause. A slew of community folk gathered at the Bronx YMCA branch in Castle Hill to do the “ice bucket challenge “ — a viral internet campaign to raise awareness for ALS disease. ALS, often referred to as “Lou Gehrig’s Disease,” is a brain disease, which has symptoms so slight that they are often overlooked at the start. Symptoms include muscle weakness, and chronic twitching and cramping of muscles.
