Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson presented a Citation of Merit to Farleigh Dickson University graduate Salif Mane on July 10. Mane, who is from the Bronx, became the 2024 Team USA Track and Field Trials Gold Medalist on Sunday, June 30, qualifying him to compete in the Paris Olympic Games.

The ceremony took place in the Rotunda of Bronx Borough Hall. Already a 2024 NCAA Division I Outdoor Triple Jump national champion, Mane’s triple jump at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in Eugene, Oregon, at 17.52 meters — which is over 57 feet — is on record as the longest jump in the U.S. since 2020.

Also, a 2020 graduate of Taft High School Campus’s Bronx High School for Medical Science, Mane was joined by Assistant Principal Wendy Mercedes, physical education instructor and track and field coach Marella Richardson and Deputy Superintendent of High Schools Carl Manalo. Also in attendance from Farleigh Dickinson University was assistant track and field coach for jumps Leroy Solomon and head track coach Wesley Stephens.
