New York Attorney General Letitia James will host a town hall on May 8 at SUNY Westchester Community College to hear directly from residents about how former President Donald Trump’s policies have impacted their lives. The event will begin at 6 p.m.

James will be joined by her counterparts from New Jersey, California, Illinois, and Minnesota. Together, the attorneys general will listen to testimony from New Yorkers across the state and discuss how their offices are working to safeguard civil rights and push back against federal policies they deem harmful.

“Our offices have been fighting back to cut through the chaos and defend the rule of law and provide support for the vital services and supports our communities rely on,” James said in a statement. “I encourage New Yorkers to join us in Westchester to share their experiences, ask questions and hear from their neighbors.”

James has led several recent efforts to oppose Trump’s executive orders and budget cuts that she argues infringe on the rights and livelihoods of American people. She and others have sued the administration over Trump’s proposal to end birthright citizenship, the mass firings of federal workers, cuts to K-12 education funding and medical research and more.

Reflecting on Trump’s first 100 days in office, James came out swinging. “If this administration continues to bulldoze the Constitution and ignore the law, they will find all of us standing in the way every single time,” she said in a statement

Community members planning to attend or testify at the hearing must register online.
