Borough’s Annual Spelling Bee

Borough elected officials Assemblyman Luis Sepulveda and Councilman Ruben Diaz are hosting their second annual borough wide spelling bee, with the final round of the competition set to kick off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 24 at the Stevenson High School campus.

Last year’s spelling bee finals drew more than 100 third, fourth and fifth graders from public and private schools across the borough.

This year’s final round includes over 200 students from 32 schools representing six of the borough’s seven school districts.

The tops winners for each grade will get a $1,000 prize, half of which is in cash or check and the rest in a $500 New York State College Scholarship.
