In addition to the more than 35 adults and seniors who participated in the program, the final class also welcomed many of their children and grandchildren, bringing total attendance to approximately 50. The younger attendees had the opportunity to learn about and play the game of chess. Overall, turnout for the final session was at least double the typical class size of 25 to 30 participants.

The course is intended to provide participants with a fun activity while also helping them build life skills and strengthen their minds. The game of chess naturally helps those who play it develop more focus and concentration. This can lead to better discipline and decision-making in one’s everyday life as well.

Young Kings and Queens Chess Club Founder Mr. Romeo taught the classes for the four-week program. The fact that this program provided a place and activity for participants to keep their minds working hard was important, especially for the seniors, who have used the program to help remain mentally sharp.
