The 49th Precinct Community Council toasted local leaders and police officers at its 29th annual Fellowship Breakfast gala and awards ceremony on Friday, May 19 at Maestro’s Caterers.

This year’s distinguished civilian honorees were Lori Solano, P.S. 108 assistant principal who was presented the Tom Twyman Citizen Award; Antony Vitaliano, Community Board 11 chairman and this year’s Civilian of the Year Award recipient and Crescenzo Di Constanzo, John Dormi and Sons Funeral Home who was presented the Business Fellowship Award.

Joseph Thompson (l), 49th Precinct Community Council president, gave Boy Scout Lucas a honorable mention, stating that he and his fellow scouts are our future.

Captain Thomas Alps, 49th Precinct commanding officer, selected the precinct’s police officer Manuel Vargas as ‘Cop of the Year,’ senior police administrative aide Charita Davis as the Senior Police Administrative Aide Award recipient and Juan Jose Aracena as ‘Explorer of the Year.’
