On Wednesday, March 6, Bronx residential workers including doormen, handypersons, porters and supers, rallied at Bronx Borough Hall with their supporters and authorized a strike if negotiations continue to falter ahead of a Thursday, March 14 contract expiration.

Since February, a bargaining committee of elected 32BJ SEIU union and worker leaders has been negotiating with the Bronx Realty Advisory Board, a multi-employer association that serves the real estate industry, for fair wage increase, fair minimum rates for new hires, and the maintenance of health and pension benefits for the hardworking men and women.

As the bargaining committee continues to negotiate, they now have authorization to call a strike of all 3,000 Bronx apartment building workers who keep more than 1,000 Bronx’s residential buildings safe, clean and operating for residents every day.

Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. (c) stood shoulder to shoulder with 32BJ union members.
