Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. and his Bronx Veterans Advisory Council paid tribute to our borough’s veterans and saluted those who continue to give back to their communities at this year’s Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on Monday, May 14 at Maestro’s Caterers.

This year’s honorees included the New York National Guard and Team Read, White and Blue for their of the 2017 Bronx Puerto Rican and Mexican Relief efforts; Lehman College graduate and Navy research assistant Hannelyn Boyd; former Community Board 4 chairwoman and Army veteran D. Lee Ezell; Samuel Young American Legion Post 620 member and Vietnam War Army veteran William ‘Bill’ Franklin and Co-op City resident and World War II Army veteran Alan Kalter.
