For the 13th year in a row, El Grupo Unidos de Belmont, Inc. hosted its exciting Cinco de Mayo Celebration on Saturday, May 5 at Crescent Avenue. Sponsored by C-Town, Krasdale Foods and Northeast Community Bank, this year’s edition featured Spanish music from DJ Gel Mix, a live performance from Banda la Ejecutiva de NY and folkloric dancers from Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church. The holiday commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French forces in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 during the Franco-Mexican War.
