St. Barnabas Hospital hosted a presentation on ‘Saving Lives by Reducing Preventable Medication Errors’ led by Christopher Jerry on Friday, April 7.

In 2006, Jerry’s two-year-old daughter was winning her battle against a rare form of cancer when a medication error made by a hospital pharmacist changed everything, killing her within hours.

In his grief, he established the Emily Jerry Foundation to raise awareness of the prevalence and alarming rate of medication errors, medical procedure mistakes and lack of reporting by hospitals, medical caregivers and healthcare providers.

St. Barnabas Hospital has taken precautions to prevent such errors by installing its highly sophisticated RIVA (Robotic IV Automation) System.
