New little league leader

Congratulations to Christina Martinez who was elected recently as the new president of Castle Hill Little League. According to CHLL coordinators, she is the first Latina to lead the CHLL.

A new board member at NYBG

East Bronx community leader, 49th Precinct Community Council president and White Plains Road Business Improvement District executive director Joseph Thompson has accepted a new role: he is now a member of the board of trustees of the New York Botanical Garden.

Joe reports that he officially joined the board in September. Joe certainly continues ‘to wear many hats.’ Joe believes that the people of the borough should realize that the NYBG has so much to offer.

For a beautiful day, it really a place that cannot be beat, said Thompson of the NYBG. People should know more about the garden and take their children.
