Happy Birthday

Lifelong borough resident Gloria Lanzone celebrated her 93rd birthday with her daughter Gloria, relatives and friends at a luncheon at Villa Barone Restaurant on Sunday, June 26.

Notable Passing

Migdalia “Mickey” Valentín, 58, has passed away. She is survived by her daughter, Noya Yvette, her two grandchildren, Cyrano Dylan and Xyrus Dali, her sisters, Marina, Gloria and Alicia and many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins. Born on September 14, 1957, Mickey passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14 with her family and friends by her side.

After the passing of her beloved mother Ana Elsa in 1969, her and her sisters were split up and spent time apart, but with the grace of God were reunited and spent some time in Puerto Rico together with many extended family members. She attended the University of Puerto Rico and graduated with a degree in Business Administration.

Mickey was a passionate, strong woman who valued family and friends more than anything else in her life, always looking after those she loved and providing help when she could. She is also survived by a large extended family in both the continental United States and Puerto Rico, all of whom valued her for her kindness, her honesty and her fierce sense of independence.

She was well-liked by many, and left an impression on everyone she met. Mickey loved movies, especially the Disney classics, was an avid Stephen King fan, and continuously used her intelligent mind to learn and evolve. We would be remiss not to mention her love of many television series and movies as well. Rest in peace, Mickey, you will be missed. Mickey’s wish to be cremated was granted and a memorial service is being planned to accommodate her many family members and friends. For more information please e-mail alicia.mccree@yahoo.com.
