Man steals cases of beer from Walgreens during early morning confrontation

A man allegedly stole two cases of beer from a Soundview Walgreens at knifepoint, police said.

According to the NYPD, on Sept. 15, at 6:25 a.m., a man took two cases of Modelo beer from the Walgreens located at 925 Soundview Ave. When the suspect attempted to leave the store without paying for the items, he was approached by a 30-year-old store employee who told him to return the alcohol.

Upon being confronted, the man brandished a knife, threatened the security guard and left the store with the beer, fleeing northbound from the location, on a bicycle, toward Bruckner Boulevard. The victim was not injured as a result of the incident.
