Del.icio.usVilla Maria Academy, 3335 Country Club Road, will be holding their 22nd AnnualBreakfast of Champions on Saturday,March 13, at 10 a.m., with keynote speaker, NYPD hero, Detective Steven McDonald, who was shot and paralyzed in 1986 while trying to arrest a teenager in Cenral Park. In attendance will also be former five-time World Boxing Champion Iran Barkley, who has been attending this event for the past 14 years. The school has named The Sportsman of the Year Award in Barkley’s name. Senator Jeff Klein, Councilman James Vacca, Assemblyman Michael Benedetto and Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr. will also be present.
Over 600 people are expected to be in attenance for the award ceremony, which onors children grades k to 8 who know how to stay physically fit.
