Scanlan JV another title?

The 2008-2009 basketball season for the Monsignor Scanlan High School JV Boys Basketball Team started off right where last season left off. Returning coach, Andrew Ayers and returning players Jimmy Hernandez, Kristopher Alvarado and William Clarke have successfully managed to remain undefeated in their league standings.

They have defeated Salesian High School, Cathedral Prep, Blessed Sacrament and St. Agnes. All of the aforementioned games were played well and led to exciting 4th quarters.

Jimmy Hernandez averages 20-25 point per game, while newcomers Usiel Reyes and Giovanni Cruz add defensives skills. The team hopes to repeat their Division Title and to capture a City Championship.

The Lady Crusaders Basketball team of Monsignor Scanlan High School, under the new coach, Stephanie Betancourt, has had a fresh start this season. Seniors Krystle McDuffie, Yasmin Henry and Vianey Gutierrez ignite the floor as captains and great leaders. Newcomer Victoria Royal adds defensive skills that brings out Jasmine Rodriguez’ shooting. Sophomore Jalen Hart is a defensive powerhouse as she blocks opponents’ and denies them the shot.

They have defeated St. Barnabas, St. Catharine, St. Raymond and Mount St. Ursula. The rest of their season looks to be an exciting one.
