The New York Yankees held a pregame ceremony recognizing Alex Rodriguez prior to his final NY Yankees game on Friday, August 12 at the stadium. Following a video presentation highlighting his career and messages from Lou Piniella and Edgar Martinez, Rodriguez received a base autographed by his team mates presented by Yankees general partner Jennifer Steinbrenner Swindal and a framed matted Number 13 Yankees jersey from the 2016 season presented by Yankees managing general partner Hal Steinbrenner and his wife, Christina. The inscription on the frame read ‘Presented to Alex Rodriguez in commemoration of your final game with the New York Yankees. August 12, 2016. Yankee Stadium.’ Rodriguez will return to the Yankees as a special adviser and instructor as early as 2017.
