Bronx Community College will host the 47th annual Run the Bronx on Saturday, May 3, 2025, drawing an estimated 2,000 participants to promote health and wellness in the borough. The event includes a 10K run, a 5K run, and a 2-mile fitness walk through the college campus and surrounding neighborhoods, including a stretch of the Grand Concourse.

Established in 1978 by former BCC President and Tuskegee Airman Roscoe C. Brown Jr., Run the Bronx is believed to be the second-oldest footrace in New York City. The event is designed to encourage physical activity among Bronx residents, with a focus on improving health outcomes in a borough that ranks last among New York State’s 62 counties for overall health.

Participants will include runners and walkers from across the Bronx, the state, and even international visitors. The race aims to address alarming health statistics in the borough, including an obesity rate estimated to be 85% higher than in Manhattan.

Alongside the races, the event will feature a PeeWee Pavilion with child-friendly obstacle courses, bubbles, hula hoops, and giveaways. All participation fees are waived for students from Pre-K through grade 12 as well as for CUNY students.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. on the Bronx Community College campus.
