Bronxites had a great time celebrating summer at this year’s We Are Melrose Street Fest on Saturday, July 20 at East 160th Street and Melrose Avenue. The event celebrating the south Bronx’s unique environmental resilience, tenacity and legacy, featured live performances by Mazarte Dance Company, Trio Ideal and Fusha Dance Company; an all-female poetry jam session showcasing the lyrical prowess of Caridad ‘La Bruja’ de la Luz, Afua Ansong and Carmen Bardegüez-Brown; the annual Harvesting Culture Awards Ceremony and special circus-style attraction Roberto ‘The Real Ice Man’ Velásquez.
