Congressman Jose Serrano hosted his third annual African Heritage Celebration on Thursday, October 27 at the Bronx Museum of the Arts.

This year’s honorees were Joseph Awadjie, City University of New York Student Senate chairman emeritus 2014-2016; African Services Committee, Inc.; Dr. Jane Edward, Fordham University clinical assistant professor; Bronx Lebanon Hospital/MLK Health Center – Disaspora Initiative; Nkumu Isaac Katalay and the Life Long Project Band; Bakary Camara, licensed real estate agent and community leader; Scott Auwater, BronxWorks assistant executive director and Mount Hope Mosque – Islamic Sunna Wal Jamaa.

Congressman Serrano (l) presented an award to Octavio Marin, Bronx Lebanon Hospital vice president for Long Term Care and Ambulatory Services. Marin accepted the honor on behalf of the Bronx Lebanon/MLK –Diaspora Initiative Clinic.
