Permits have been filed for the construction of a 4-story residential building with nine housing units on the vacant lot at 890 E. 169th St. in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx.

The proposed building, located between Home Street and Rev. James A. Polite Avenue, would be 50 feet tall and yield 6,093 square feet of space. With an average unit scope of 677 square feet, the residences will most likely be rentals.

In addition to the residences, the permits also call for a cellar and a penthouse as part of the building. The Freeman Street subway station, which services the 2 and 5 trains, is located within close proximity to the property. There are also bus stops nearby for the Bx17, Bx19 and Bx35 lines.

Some of the notable features that can be found near 890 E. 169th St. include Peace and Diversity Academy, Cultivating Hearts and Minds Pre-K Center at 1224 Prospect Ave., Urban Scholars Community School X463, the Dr. Richard Izquierdo Health and Science Charter School, Community School 134, P.S. 150 Charles James Fox, Field of Dreams Park and the Reverend Polite Playground.

The building applications were filed by Edmond Lulaj. The applications list P Georgopoulos Architect as the architect of record.

Since 890 E. 169th St. is a vacant lot, it is unlikely that demolition permits will be needed. There has not yet been an estimated completion date provided for the building’s construction.
