An 89-year-old woman is in critical condition after being violently assaulted at a Bronx bus stop Monday afternoon, and police are now searching for the two individuals responsible.
The brutal attack took place around noon on May 19 near East 211th Street and White Plains Road in the Williamsbridge section, according to the NYPD. The elderly woman was waiting for an MTA bus when she became embroiled in a dispute with an unidentified female.
Police say the woman slapped the victim in the face, and a second individual — described as a male — pushed her to the ground. The victim fell and sustained serious injuries to her body. She was rushed by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she remains in critical but stable condition.
The female suspect fled the scene on an MTA bus traveling southwest. The male suspect ran southbound on White Plains Road, police said.
The NYPD describes the first suspect as a female last seen wearing a black shirt, black jacket, and blue jeans. The second suspect is a male last seen wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, and red sneakers.
Authorities released surveillance footage of one of the suspects, which is available through the NYPD’s public information office.
