Perp beats, tries to rob sleeping man in car by Starlight Park

Police are looking for a man that struck and tried robbing a 45-year-old man asleep in his car near Starlight Park last month.

It was reported to the NYPD that the snoozing man was approached by his attacker on the driver side door by West Farms Road and East 173rd Street at about 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 28.

He then opened the door, hit the man with what police called “a hard object,” and began demanding his property.

The victim awoke, refused, and resisted which caused the assailant to flee towards parts unknown.

His robbery attempt was an unsuccessful one as no property was removed and the victim.

Police sources familiar with the investigation said that the victim refused medical attention despite suffering pain and bruising.

The individual being sought for the attack within the 42nd Precinct is described as black and between 20 to 30 years in age.
