As the new school year draws near, a Mount St. Michael Academy graduate will now serve as his alma mater’s president

This past May, the MSMA Board of Trustees named Peter Corritori, Jr. as the school’s next president and chief executive officer, which became effective on Wednesday, July 1.

Corritori, a Class of 1971 alum, succeeds Dr. Anthony Miserandino who retired at the end of this past school year.

Appointed in 2006, Dr. Miserandino will now serve as a visiting research scholar at Oxford University in the fall.

A second generation Italian American, Corritori, was born and raised in Pelham Bay before moving to White Plains where he currently resides.

He attended Baruch College where he earned his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in marketing and completed his graduate work at Pace University.

Corritori has served on the Mount’s school board for the past four years and has been a highly successful senior executive having served as chairman, CEO, president and director of several corporations including Clarity Imaging Technologies, Inc.; Florsheim Group and Badanco Luggage among many others.

Under his leadership, these companies expanded their customer base in addition to developing a strong bottom line.

With his extensive business experience, Corritori’s responsibilities will focus upon the school’s strategic marketing and financial operations to ensure the school’s mission in providing young men a Catholic, college preparatory education which fosters each student’s unique potential for personal excellence and strives to help each student develop in maturity as healthy, well-rounded, service oriented leaders.

He added the graduating class of 2015 composed of nearly 160 students had a 100% college acceptance rate and so far 96% of these students will be starting college this fall.

The incoming freshman class’ enrollment totals approximately 180 students, the largest in last five to six years, Corritori noted.

Working in conjunction with principal Br. Steve Schlitte, both Corritori and Br. Schlitte seek to provide a strong combination of financial and academic leadership to Mount St. Michael Academy students.

“I’m very much looking forward to working with Peter Corritori as president of Mount St. Michael Academy,” Br. Schlitte said. “As a graduate of the class of 1971, he brings to our school a passion for the mission.”

He added, “His background in business will be beneficial for the school. This year, we’ve seen an increase in enrollment and I believe we are poised to grow even more. I look forward to Mr. Corritori’s expertise in helping us to grow even more in the future.”

As a Mount St. Michael Academy alum, Corritori looks back fondly at the time he once spent as a student and sees his position as president as a means of “paying it forward” by providing students with the same level of education he attributes to his success.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the four years I spent here as a student and the education I received here has had a meaningful effect on both my personal and professional life,” Corritori expressed.

“Educating our students is our first priority. As president, I’m tasked with responsibility to make sure we have enough assets to accomplish this mission,” he added.
