One of the nation’s finest public access television turns 25 this year!

BronxNet TV will be celebrating the big 2-5 with a bang at the Marina del Rey on Thursday, October 17.

The soon-to-be three studio network will be honoring Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., former borough president Fernando Ferrer, and BronxNet board member Madaha Kinsey-Lamb who is the executive director of the Mindbuilders Creative Arts Center.

Diaz, who’s no stranger to BronxNet will be receiving the ‘Quarter Century Award’ for his pressing work with and appearances on the television station.

BronxNet provides the studio space at Lehman and Mercy colleges and soon will provide an additional studio with podcasting capabilities on 149th Street in the hub of the south Bronx. The network also provides camera equipment that can be taken into the field, editing suites and training classes, providing Bronx residents opportunities few could afford.

In its 25-year time, BronxNet’s executive director Michael Max Knobbe has watched firsthand the growth of the network along with the borough.

“We’ve seen the Bronx become a symbol of urban renewal in these years,” Knobbe said, mentioning how BronxNet has expanded from one to six channels.

“Now the network has become a multi-site, multimedia platform and we’re nowhere near done growing yet,” he continued.

During his tenure, Knobbe has also seen many BronxNet alum move on to pursue broadcast journalism in New York.

He listed the many BronxNet success stories both current and in the past 25 years starting with the very popular Darlene Rodriguez , a reporter for NBC 4.

Currently Yeila Lluberres is doing outstanding work for Spectrum News 1 as a weekend anchor in addition to her other reporter duties. She came from the Dominican Republic to the Bronx, becoming a BronxNet producer and attending Lehman College. Dean Meminger followed a similar path, starting at BronxNet to find success at Spectrum New 1 as well.

Michael Thrower is currently in the cutting room for FOX, handling much of its content, while Jeremy Hutchens has given MTV, VICE, and BET some of its most unique stories as well.

Jhelsy Paula has commanded the news ‘en Espanol’ for Telemundo after coming from BronxNet. Another success story is the Emmy Award winning news director Michael Leon of BronxNet and later News 12.

If interested in attending the 25th anniversary, why not do it in style?

Anchor sponsors are awarded a table for twelve guests with VIP seating and a full-page ad in the event journal.

BronxNet will produce a video vignette spotlighting the organization to air on BronxNet channels and an on-air support message will be included in the broadcast and webcast of the event.

Your organization logo will be included prominently in our digital logo display during the event and on a website banner as well along with promotional items in gift bags.
