The Hip Hop Blvd Awards honored many legendary hip hop artists and community leaders on Saturday, August 10 at Roberto Clemente State Park. This year’s honorees included Kurtis Blow; DJ Funkmaster Flex; Light Da Flow Minista; Melle Mel; Candela; Sal Abbatiello; DJ Grandwizard Rasheen; Busy Bee; Rickie Righteous; Fat Joe; Mickey Factz; Connecticut Mayor John Ganim; Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.; Mount Vernon Mayor Andre Wallace; council members Fernando Cabrera and Vanessa Gibson.

Candela (l) accepted his award from Al Pizzaro, DJ, promoter, community leader and Hip Hop Blvd CEO.
Rickie Righteous (r) was honored by DJ Flame (l) and Al Pizzaro.
Mount Vernon Mayor Wallace (l) proudly accepted his award from Al Pizzaro.
Al Pizzaro enjoyed meeting with attendees during the celebration.
Hip Hop Boulevard members were presented a City Council Proclamation from Councilman Cabrera’s Office dedicating the day as ‘Hip Hop Day.’
Busy Bee Starsky (l) and Sal Abbatiello (c) were honored by Al Pizzaro.
DJ Grand Wizard Rasheen (c) was honored to be recognized at the ceremony.
Light Da Flow Minista (c) graciously accepted her award.
