Banker’s Breakfast

Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and the Business Initiative Corporation of New York will host the 20th Annual Bronx Bankers Breakfast. New York State Superintendent of Financial Services, Maria Vullo, will address over 400 financial leaders, business owners, real estate brokers, and professionals on the outstanding changes the borough has experienced since 2009 and indicate how BICNY’s SBA 504 program is working on behalf of the borough.

Bronx Nutrition and Fitness Initiative for Teens is holding its annual walk to stamp out obesity that is happening this year in conjunction with Bronx Week 2017. Hosted with Hot 97’s Ebro & The Street Team.

Fifth Annual Marble Hill Annexation

An annual staging of the annexation of Marble Hill in the name of the Bronx! Though on the borough’s mainland, Marble Hill somehow remains part of New York County. Group meets at a pub, and then marches up a hill to alert the community that Marble Hill has been claimed in the name of the borough.

Cartooning with Devon Purkiss

This event is a cartooning workshop for teens and adults with illustrator Devon Purkiss. Learn the skills to be a better illustrator in this Bronx River Arts Center sponsored program.

The Black Iris Project: “A Mother’s Rite”

2 p.m. to 6 p.m. – free

A Mother’s Rite is the latest arts and social justice dance piece by The Black Iris Project. The ballet is set to Igor Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring musical composition, and explores one mother’s journey through stages of grief after being thrust into the spotlight by way of her son’s murder by racially motivated violence.

Building the Bronx Trolley Tour

In celebration of Bronx Week, hop aboard the Woodlawn Conservancy Trolley and visit the final resting places of individuals who built the borough. In some cases that may be meant literally, like in the case of Robert Moses. There are many popular figures who are buried at Woodlawn and the cemetery features famed monuments by the Attilio Piccirilli.

The Amazing Bronx River Flotilla

The Flotilla is a one-of-a-kind adventure and fun celebration of efforts by the Bronx River Alliance to reclaim the Bronx River. It also raises funds to support their 2018 Canoe Program, so they can offer free and reduced cost paddling adventures for children and families.

The Bronx Week Food and Arts Festival will take place following the Bronx Day Parade, along Mosholu Parkway. There will be live music throughout the day, making the festival feel like one huge block party.
