Police from the 52nd Precinct responded to a 911 call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at East 193rd Street and Webster Avenue on Tuesday, September 12 at 7:12 a.m.
Upon arrival, police observed a 60-year-old man lying in the roadway with severe trauma to his body. EMS responded and pronounced the victim dead on arrival. A preliminary investigation determined the pedestrian was crossing Webster Avenue from west to east when he was struck by a Modell’s Sporting Goods box truck. The 59-year-old truck driver remained on the scene. No arrests or summonses were issued, however the NYPD Collision Investigation Squad’s investigation is still ongoing.
