The 49th Precinct held its first Back to School Giveaway on Friday, August 18, sponsored by the 49th Precinct Community Council, Senator Jeff Klein, Assemblyman Mark Gjonaj and Councilman James Vacca. Students received free school supplies and food, enjoyed music and face-painting. The event was a collaborative effort between the precinct’s community affairs, youth officers and housing liaison.

Volunteer Jen Bush and police officers James Shope (c) and Bernard Gjeloshi worked the cotton candy machine during the event.
Police officer Marlin Minaya and his horse Arthur greeted children in front of the precinct.
