Police are searching for a man who attempted to rob a Westchester Square bank last week. According to a NYPD spokesman, on Tuesday, August 1 at 11:34 a.m., a 6’2” Hispanic man entered through the front door of Chase Bank on 2725 E. Tremont Avenue where he was greeted by an employee. The suspect reportedly said to the employee, “What if I told you to go to the back and get me some money?” He then got on line and then returned to the employee repeating the statement while placing his hands on his waistband and displayed a cell phone. The would-be thief repeated the statement for a third time, but left the bank empty handed at which point the bank alarm was activated. Police said no arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation.
