Happy First Birthday

Proud parents Marcus Roman and Kimberly Mora wish their daughter Aryanna Roman a happy first birthday.

Kings College Honors

Borough resident Ancy Chempola, a student at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, PA, was recently inducted into the Delta Epsilon Sigma national Catholic college honor society.

Candidates for membership must have a record of ‘outstanding’ academic accomplishment and have completed at least 50 percent of their course work for a bachelor’s degree with a minimum grade point average of 3.6.

Chempola is a senior in the Physician Assistant program.

Police Commissioner Visit

James O’Neill, NYPD commissioner, paid a visit to Villa Maria Academy as the school held its 28th Annual Detective Steven McDonald Evening of Champions Dinner Awards Ceremony recently.

The dinner was part of two days of festivities at the school to honor the memory of Detective McDonald and recognize physical fitness among students at the school, from kindergarten to eighth grade.

The city’s police commissioner came to show his support of the event, as did McDonald’s widow and son.
