Birth Announcement

The Messina’s welcomed the newest edition to their family: Zara Noelle Messina. She came to parents Crhist and Desiree, brother Xavier and sister Ava. God bless them all!

Happy 100th Birthday

Friends of Janet Banks submitted the following item to the Bronx Times.

Janet Banks turns 100-years-old on Friday, March 31. She is from Morrisania. She was born in Worcester, MA.

She is a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for the Department for the Aged for 25 years.

She served on the tenant patrol and drug elimination program in the Morris Houses. She was a member of the Jackson/Forest Community Garden and Youth Village Park Intergenerational Program.

She was a member of the St. Augustine Senior Center and is a member of the William Hodson Senior Center.

Banks has been a member of the Catholic community, with St. Augustine parish and with St. Augustine Our Lady of Victory, for over 50 years. She was the director of the St. Augustine Sunday school and also director of St. Augustine Senior Center.

She received the Good Samaritan Award from NYC Catholic Charities.

She was professed a member of the Secular Franciscan Order, sponsored many new people to the faith and was a Godmother to many.

Janet Banks provided support in additional ares of church and community too numerous to mention. We are all very blessed to be a part of her life.

Congratulations to Tyrone Quick, a Highbridge community member who was recently promoted to manager of maintenance at McDonalds in Wakefield, where he has worked for four years.
