The National Council of Negro Women North Bronx Section celebrated its Women’s History Month awards gala on Saturday, March 25 at Bronx Community College’s Colston Hall.
This year’s ceremony honored such exemplary local women as NYC Civil Court judge Marsha Michael, Alice Cooper-Jackson, United Federation of Teachers district representative, Lady Pamela Damon, Talitha Cumi Urban Etiquette and Leadership Academy founder and director, Leonora Julius, advocate for parents and children in NYC and Larcenia Walton, director of Senior Services Office of the Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr.
The highlight of the event included commemorating the late Dr. Dorothy Height, National Council of Negro Women president emerita and chairwoman, with the 40th stamp in the United States Postal Service’s 2017 Black Heritage Forever Series.
