Borough President Ruben Diaz, Jr., delivered the annual State of the Borough Address at Cardinal Hayes High School on Friday, February 19. At the Grand Concourse school, Diaz spoke about the overall direction of the borough in his seventh speech while in office. Some of the highlights of the speech included a $10 million allocation to restore the Orchard Beach Pavilion, a proposal to have the City University of New York pick up the costs of remedial classes when students are not prepared for college, the green light on four new Metro North stations and efforts in addressing growing income inequality.
