Fannie Lou Hammer Freedom High School students visited Fordham University on Friday, September 30 for a tour of the university and an eye-opening history lesson during Dr. Mark Naison’s ‘The Bronx: immigration, Race and Culture’ class. The course covers how immigration and diverse cultural traditions have formed the borough’s history for the last 100 years beginning with the large scale migration of Jewish, Irish and Italian immigrants in the beginning of the 20th century all the way through the current migrations of West Africans, Dominicans, Mexicans and South Asians in the last 20 years.
