Wave Hill has a lot in store for July

This is next to last Sunset Wednesday of the summer at Wave Hill, and high time to schedule an evening in the gardens. Reserve a Sunset Supper and a session with poet Rachel Simon, or just find a quiet nook to curl up in a Wave Hill chair for a birdy serenade as the sun begins to set.

Weekends offer Yoga and Tai Chi, a splendid Sunday Brunch, a chance for families to get creative together at the Family Art Project and, on Sunday, an exquisite husband-and-wife trunk show with glass artists Daniel Read and Margarita.

Thursday, July 16, Artists’ Circle: Find inspiration in Wave Hill’s sumptuous landscape as you explore the medium of your choice in these open-air studio sessions. Wave Hill provides easels and drawing boards; you bring paper or canvas and art medium. Facilitated critique at noon. $10 Member; $18 Non-member (includes admission to the grounds). Limited to 12 participants each week. Register at the Perkins Visitor Center. Artists’ Circle takes place every Thursday in June, July and August, weather permitting. Thursday, July 16, Meet The Mints: Mint Family Cooking Demonstration: assistant director of Public Programs Laurel Rimmer displays many types of ornamental and edible mints in the enormous mint family, Lamiaceae, and explains why certain species make excellent container subjects. Saturday, July 18, Tai Chi Chuan: Quiet like a mountain, moving like a river, Tai Chi is a sequence of gentle movements based on images found in nature. Furnish a miniature room or small-scale dwelling with an artful installation of river imagery and natural materials. Shape a river-dwelling inhabitant using modeling clay. Free with admission to the grounds. The Sally And Gilbert Kerlin Learning Center, 1 to 4 p.m.

Sunday, July 19, Glass Trunk Show: Join us for a special trunk show with husband-and-wife team Daniel Read and Margarita. Daniel Read studied with Dale Chihuly, continuing as a member of his blow team for 12 years. Margarita’s limited-edition jewelry is all about the color and cut of vintage glass. Margarita’s jewelry has sold to museums, galleries and select boutiques worldwide. The Shop At Wave Hill, 1:30 to 4:30 P.M.
