Dazzling children and adults , the display features Lionel trains traveling along a 34’ long, two-level, “O” gauge model train layout. Departing from a miniature replica of Grand Central Terminal on their way to the North Pole, this year’s exhibition showcases the Transit Museum’s Lionel Metro-North, Polar Express, and vintage subway train sets. The exhibit explores pilotless aircraft and the history of drone technology. Visitors can fly actual drones and explore the use of drones in police and fire departments, fashion, and art.

10 am to 5 pm.

Over 150 New York City landmarks are recreated in miniature out of bark, nuts, leaves and other plant parts. Large scale model trains zip around such familiar sites as the Statue of Liberty and Rockefeller Center. This year’s show features new replicas of the Empire State Building and other midtown landmarks. Timed tours today through Jan. 15, 2018; see website for holiday schedules.

There are two new exciting experiences to be had at the Bronx Zoo, and both are part of the Treetop Adventure Program. One experience - called Climb - is an aerial adventure course consisting of rope bridges, rope walks, ladders, wobbly bridges and swinging elements. There are various levels of difficulty. The other adventure offered is Zipline, allowing guests to zip across the Bronx River 50 feet …

Mummies will offer an up-close look at one of the largest collections of mummies housed in North America. From ancient Egypt to pre-Columbian Peru, the exhibition will explore the intersection between societies, their environment, and the preparations they made for their dead.

The special presentation is a variety show that celebrates the holiday season in song, dance and puppetry. The production quickly becomes a comedy of errors when Baby Bear invites Santa to star in Mama and Papa Bear’s annual Christmas Eve holiday show. The audience also gets to join in on the fun with sing-a-longs during the performance of holiday favorites “I Have a Little Dreidel …”

Ffamilies, and especially children ages 5-12, enjoy an interactive gateway to the wonders of the Museum and a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at its science.

Hop aboard our play train and pretend to ride the rails! Hike winter trails and find evergreen trees and shrubs. Warm up inside the cozy Discovery Center while learning more about amazing evergreen plants. Make a festive evergreen swag bundle to brighten up your home.
