Gjonaj defeats Vacca choice/Sen. Diaz captures the 18th CD Dem nod

Mark Gjonaj, Ruben Diaz Jr. and Ruben Diaz Sr. were among victors celebrating at a Democratic gathering attended by hundreds of supporters, elected officials and family members at Maestro’s Caterers, 1703 Bronxdale Avenue, Tuesday, September 12. Gjonaj, democratic candidate for the 13th City Council District, squeaked past Marjorie Velazquez with 38.63 percent of the votes to her 34.36 percent, with 95.6 percent of the scanners reported to the Board of Elections by Wednesday, September 13. John Doyle came in third place with 19.10 percent. Read more…
