Bronx Zoo launches party to celebrate Mother Earth

The Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo will be the place to visit this April, when a party for the planet launches with a host of Earth Month event activities. Spring is the time to think green and plan a zoo trip April 4 to 5, 6 to 19, and the weekend of April 24 and 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Plus the first annual Run for the Wild to support the United Nations “Year of the Gorilla” is scheduled for Saturday, April 25. NYBG celebrates kids’ birthdays

On weekends starting this spring, the New York Botanical Garden is offering parents an opportunity to celebrate their child’s birthday in the Ruth Rea Howell Family Garden, Everett Children’s Adventure Garden, and the Enid A. Haupt Conservatory. The party package includes pizza and beverages from a famous restaurant in the Little Italy section of the Bronx, all paper goods, a party coordinator, and an instructor from the Botanical Garden’s Children’s Education department who will conduct a fun, seasonal craft activity with party guests. The “icing on the cake” for the birthday parties is access to all Garden exhibitions and programs that are open to the public on the date of party. Read more…

leaping lemurs at the bronx zoo

With everything in the world turned upside down these days, it’s a bit comforting to know that in some parts of the animal kingdom, there is joy and friendship. Meet Vera, a brown-collared lemur, and her friend, ring-tailed lemur Katrina, who take turns grooming each other at the Wildlife Conservation Society’s Bronx Zoo Madagascar! exhibit. Both species are from the exotic African island of Madagascar and can be seen daily inside the zoo’s new permanent Madagascar! exhibit along with other members of their family. Read more…
