On Saturday, September 21, Cardinal Spellman High School hosted its annual homecoming event. The day was kicked off by the varsity girls’ soccer team tying against Mary Louis Academy, followed by the annual alumni flag football game. The varsity football team won their home opener against Nazareth. At halftime of that game, Alum Rockel Simone Brown, class of 1997, was presented with the Hall of Fame Award for her outstanding athleticism in varsity track and field. Read more…

While it may be arduous, it is incumbent on our civic leadership to proceed with utmost caution to ensure maximum benefit with minimum disruption to Bronxites through this undertaking, My office has received considerable feedback regarding the proposed changes as they involve the removal of bus stops, the removal of bus routes and the creation of additional transfers that will cause many of our most vulnerable population serious concern. Second annual Caribbean parade hosted by Senator Bailey

Senator Jamaal Bailey hosted his second annual Unions and Caribbean celebration parade. The parade started on 238th Street and Nereid Avenue and continued down along White Plains Road to P.S. 41. The event featured the vibrant colors and culture found in the Caribbean, as well as labor leaders and union members. Following the parade, there were a series of performances and presentations at P.S 41. The year’s honorees included 47th Precinct police officer Michael Chin, Michelle Sajous from Riverbay Corporation, David Caraballoso from CCA Metro and community activist Patricia Williams.. Construction worker awarded for his performance

Five Star Construction’s Gilberto Santos Galvez was recently named Bronx worker of the month for September by non-profit organization Building Skills. Last year, Building Skills filled 235 construction related jobs, with Bronx residents making up over 40 percent of workers placed.
